Are you a meticulous individual with a passion for restoring old treasures to their former glory? Do you possess the skills and experience to transform tired and worn-out furniture into like-new condition? School Excess is seeking a Furniture Restoration Technician to join our team of craftsmen. If you are skilled with both hand and power tools and have a background in furniture restoration, we want to hear from you.

What you will be doing

  • Restore a variety of school furniture, including desks, chairs, and cafeteria tables, to like-new condition.
  • Utilize hand and power tools with precision to ensure meticulous refurbishments.
  • Apply light industrial chemical solutions as part of the restoration process.
  • Identify issues with furniture and implement creative solutions for restoration.
  • Work with attention to detail, ensuring each piece meets high-quality standards.
  • Interpret measurements and dimensions accurately to meet project specifications.
  • Safely operate within a warehouse environment, including lifting items up to 60 lbs.
  • Independently manage refurbishment projects with minimal guidance.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve project goals.

What you will need to do it

  • A High School Diploma/ GED required, Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal direction to prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Must be able to work within a warehouse environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, e-mail and meeting management software.
  • Ability to use internet and web-based resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Limited travel may be required as needed.

What Qualifications

  • Previous experience in furniture restoration or any refurbishment industry is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in working with hand and power tools used in furniture refurbishing.
  • Familiarity with the use of light industrial chemical solutions for restoration.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving furniture issues.
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse setting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering top-notch results.
  • Prior experience working with furniture or school equipment is an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret measurements and dimensions accurately.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to meet project deadlines, and work independently.
  • Passion for sustainability and a commitment to eco-friendly practices.
  • Comfortable working around the use of chemical solutions.
